Scientists Exploring the Arts is a unique partnership between the State Theatre and National Starch and Chemical Company. The program celebrates and explores the essential elements shared by the performing arts and science and technology: creativity, innovation, problem solving, teamwork, and process. The three-event series offers young scientists an opportunity to discover three distinctive art forms and to meet personnel from the National Starch and Chemical Company, a world leader in the manufacture of adhesives, specialty synthetic polymers, electronic and engineering materials, and specialty food and industrial starches.
This free program is open to college students (graduate and undergraduate) who are majoring in any area of science or technology. Scientists Exploring the Arts is offered twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring.
Students selected to participate in the program attend the State Theatre on three evenings, along with employees of the National Starch and Chemical Company. Each event includes:
- A ticket to the performance at the State Theatre in New Brunswick.
- A pre-performance “Exploration” with a talented arts educator. The entertaining and enjoyable lecture provides an in-depth, easy-to-understand introduction to the show.
- A pre-performance dinner, where there will be opportunities to network with National Starch employees as well as other students.
